The Times Higher Education rankings are strong in academic focus and diverse teaching metrics, but do not include employer-specific metrics. This information is based on the latest rankings tables, researched and published by Times Higher Education, QS and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). It can show you which British universities are amongst the best in the world – and help you compare institutions on an international level. The following tables gives the 10 top universities in the UK for Communication & Media Studies, according to global and local university rankings. No specific A-levels are required for most media and communication programmes. • Of the 44 newsbrands to record an audience decline month on month, Wales Online saw the steepest fall, down by more than a quarter (25.7%) to 5.2 million.

Manchester-based digital media and youth content publisher LBG Media continued to grow in 2023. Hearst UK’s parent company, the US-based National Magazine Company, reported a profit before tax of £686,000 in 2023 but a £460,000 loss after tax. Nonetheless, owing in large part to the closures of products including Scottish radio station Pure Radio, several magazines and a holiday booking platform, overall revenue dropped nearly £27m year-on-year. In its following accounts, published this month, pre-tax profit rose to £93.8m, of which £92m was attributed to the company’s financial assets and £1.8m to the performance of the core businesses. After a difficult 2020, the company’s finances bounced back in 2021 and in 2022 the company reported “its strongest year for more than a decade”.

Up in the far northeast of England, in contrast to many National Parks on this list, Northumberland is delightfully off the beaten track and promises wild and windswept countryside without the crowds. And sticking with the coastal theme, but this time moving north, the Yorkshire coast is often overlooked when it comes to the British seaside winners. Awash with kitsch charm and beautiful coastal views, Whitstable makes for a great day trip or mini-break. And while we’re on the foodie theme, you can’t miss out on a bit of UK seaside food while you’re touring either.

On a weekend, you’re likely to find a healthy mix of fashion darlings, seasoned locals and tourists rummaging for treasures. Highlights include the beautiful cliffs at Beer, the historic seaside town of Lyme Regis, the sweeping shingle ridge of Chesil Beach, Old Harry Rocks and West Bay’s golden sands. Running from Exmouth in Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset, the rocks record 185 million years of the Earth’s history – and they look pretty good, too. The biggest month-on-month audience growth in June was at Reach regional Devon Live, which was up by a third to reach 5.3 million people. Reach sister title the Mirror was up 2.8% month on month but down 8% year on year to 20.7 million. The Daily Express was the biggest winner in the top ten by audience, rising by 2.2% month on month but 31% compared to June last year, reaching 18.5 million.

Media and communication graduate salaries range from £17,000 to £30,000 (standard graduate outcomes) within six months based on 2027 data. CNN was back on the list, having dropped off in March, and recorded the biggest monthly increase in audience, up 60% to 3.6 million, plus a 6.9% increase year on year.
